Before the Ostindian Tea-Company first brought tea from Japan to
Ostfriesland, people over there mostly drink beer, which naturally
caused much problems. That was in the middle of the 17th
century. Through the years tea became popular to everybody, not only to

Nowadays a quarter of German tea
consumption lays in Ostfriesland. It was always a privileg to the
housewife to serve the tea. Three little cups are minimum and
„Ostfriesen-Right“. But take care – Ostfriesen don't talk much. When you
don't want to drink tea any longer, you had to put your little
teaspoon in your cup. Otherwise you'll get tea without an end...

Our Friesenhaus Original Tea is a strong and fullbodied blend of hearty
Assam, fine Ceylon and selected Darjeeling teas. Put a big Kluntje
(sugar-candy) in the little tea-cup and pour the hot tea over the
Kluntje. Hear how it crackles! - Than take the special cream spoon and
lay a „Wulkje“ - a little cloud of cream- carefully on top. Drink the
tea in three steps without using the spoon: through the mild cream, to
the intense tea up to the sweet end.
